Couple of titles to recommend

Time Travellers Wife - Audrey Niffenegger
Honestly it did take me a minute to get into the book but once I was started I couldn't put it down. I have heard the movie isn't great so I say stick with the book and wait till the movie is available at your local Library to borrow!!

The Wife's Tale - Lori Lansens
I was grateful to receive this book as I had been in a real reading rut, it was terrific. I would highly recommend it! There's a little bit of Mary Gooch in all of us and of course I love it when Ms. Lansens sets her stories in south western Ontario. She also mentions characters from her first two books.

Good Read

I am recommending Pride and Prejudice and Zombies written by Jane Austen with Seth Greene. The story is really Pride and Prejudice with Zombie annotations by Seth Greene. It is very cleverly done and completely keeps with the writing style of Jane Austen. Don't let the slightly gruesome cover stop you from reading this title if your a Jane Austen fan. So far I have found it to be witty and really quite funny!! Put a hold on it now.

Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side

This is a YP book, new release, I highly recommend it to fellow Twilight and House of Night series lovers. Cleverly done told by two viewpoints, Jessica aka Anastasia and Lucius. Jessica is a Romanian Vampire Princess who was adopted at birth and whisked away by two Americans. Lucius has come for his fiance, Jessica. They were betrothed at birth in order to join two feuding vampire families and create peace. But as you know romance never goes smoothly. Another interesting twist is that Jessica will not turn into a vampire until she reaches puberty which is around 18 and can fully evolve into a vampire until she is "kissed" by a male vampire. I would highly recommend it to our teens. Lucius's letters home to his uncle are very witty!

Have been in a reading funk!

It happens every once in a while that I can't find a book to captivate me, hard to believe when I work in a public library. But I think I have hit on a new vampire series that is going to hit my sweet spot. L. A. Banks Vampire Huntress Legend series. Just waiting for book 1 to come in the delivery. Will keep you up to date!

Casting Spells

Casting Spells - Barbara Bretton
Oh such a great book, a combination of some of my favourite things in a story paranormal themes and knitting. Our lead character, Chloe Hobbs is the daughter of a sorcereress and a human and thus far there are no signs that she has inherited her mothers magical gift. Chloe runs a very successful knitting shop fittingly called Casting Spells located in the small town of Sugar Maple. There are interesting characters woven into this delightful story with a dash of romance and a sprig of mystery it is sure to please!

The story is clever and witty and I'm happy to say part of a new series. Check out Barbara Bretton's website at www.barbarabretton.com

What I did for Love

Susan Elizabeth Phillips - What I did for Love

The perfect weekend read. A lovely blend of romance and humour. Ms. Phillips always delivers a light read with great characters. Georgie our main character was a childhood star who has recently been divorced by her action star husband. When confronted by paparrazzi with a sonogram of her ex-husbands new wife's baby, Georgie falls apart. Who comes to rescue her? Bram her much hated co-star, a self centred party boy. There are other secondary characters, Chaz, Bram's young house keeper, Aaron, Georgie's Personal Assistant, Paul Georgie's controlling manager and Laura her agent. A must read!!

Secret History of the Pink Carnation

The Secret History of the Pink Carnation - Lauren Willig

This is a new series that I have discovered that is now up to book five. The Secret History of the Pink Carnation has two story lines, one in present day England, telling the story of a graduate student, Eloise Kelly, researching spies in the Napoleonic Wars. The other storyline follows a spy named the Pink Carnation. This is a light hearted romantic historical fiction with a dash of suspense. The rest of the titles in the series are:

The Masque of the Black Tulip Bk 2
The Deception of the Emerald Ring Bk 3
The Seduction of the Crimson Rose Bk 4
The Temptation of the Night Jasmine Bk 5
